A group of 17 schools duked it out at Skyland Pines Golf Course at the Midwest Classic on Saturday, Aug. 19. By the time the final shot was recorded, Garaway junior Jocelyn Troyer had carved out a 75, placing her in the runner-up spot as an individual. Garaway ended up dropping a tie-breaker for the runner-up spot, having instead to settle for third place.
Leigh Ann Williams added a 90, and Kalyn Mast carded a 93, both of those scores landing in the top tier of players. Helena Immel added a 100, and Halle Hallman carded a 105 for the Lady Pirates, who continue their early season surge of good play.
First-place team honors went to Independence, which fired off a team score of 353 at the difficult Skyland Pines Golf Course. Then came the Lady Pirates and the group from Kent Roosevelt, who both shot solid 358s. The chase for the runner-up spot was awarded to Kent Roosevelt on the fifth-score tie-breaker. Wadsworth was a distant fourth at 374 while North Royalton was one shot back in fifth, coming in at 375.
