After two close losses at the hand of #2 Hiland during the regular season, the #3 Strasburg Tigers 8th grade squad finally found redemption, defeating the Hawks 47-45 in a hotly-contested semi-final matchup Saturday at Hiland.
The Tigers led big early on and kept a comfortable lead throughout, but Hiland kept scrapping its way back into the game, and finally caught Strasburg and took its first lead of the game with under two minutes to play with a huge three pointer.
After the game was tied at 45, both teams came up empty with a chance to take the lead, with Hiland losing the ball out of bounds with only seven seconds to play. Strasburg inbounded the ball and raced up the floor, scoring on a driving layup with only :01 remaining on the clock for an exciting 47-45 victory.
With the win, the Tigers advance to Monday’s final versus top seeded Malvern.
