Bobsledding, skiing, ice skating, tennis?
No, tennis is not normally considered a winter sport, but on Monday, April 4, the white stuff fell in cascading curtains as the Hiland tennis team braved the elements to square off with Canton South.
It proved to all be well worth it as the Hawks pounded out a 4-1 victory.
Senior Logan Weaver got the party started at second singles, where he swept to a quick won 6-1, 6-2 victory.
It took a tad longer for classmate and first singles player Charlie Schlabach, but eventually he also got a win for the Hawks. Schlabach earned a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win, with the third set being a 10-point tie break format. Grant Gingerich won handily at third singles, winning 6-2, 6-1, and Terrell Hostetler and Patrick Miller won in three sets at second doubles, claiming a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win.
The lone Hiland loss came at first singles, where Joey Miller and Timothy Schlabach dropped a 4-6, 1-6 decision.
