The Valley Force 01 girls fastpitch team just wrapped up a fun-filled summer of weekend tournaments. They played a total of 40 games this summer as they were able to max out the total available games at four of their six tournaments played. The Valley Girls finished with two championship wins, two runner-ups, a third-place finish and inside the top 32 teams at the North American All-Sanctioned World Series.
One thing about this group of young ladies is that they never gave up and they battled to the end of every game. Four of Valley’s eight losses were by just one run and another by two. They had come-from-behind wins, won games in walk-off fashion, witnessed a perfect game (in the first game of the season) and competed at a high level all summer.
As a team Valley Force 01 finished with a batting average of .355 and scored 255 runs. They had a total of 325 hits that produced 230 singles, 60 doubles, 13 triples, 22 home runs and had a total of 232 RBIs. They had a total of 95 extra base hits. The team also had an on-base percentage of .405 and a slugging percentage of .521. Valley’s batting average jumps to .413 with runners in scoring position.
The pitching staff saw a total of 206 and one-third innings and faced 883 batters. They finished allowing 65 earned runs and 86 total runs for an era of just 2.23. The Valley pitching staff was consistent all summer, throwing strikes at a percentage of 67.3. With help from the defense, the Valley Girls allowed 155 singles, 29 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and only a total of 38 extra base hits. The defense also achieved their team goal and finished with a .957 fielding percentage on 41 errors this summer.
This was a great summer of softball for the Valley Girls as they had more ups than downs. The coaching staff is very pleased with the direction the team is heading and the drive and determination the girls played with all summer. Next up for these young ladies is a fall schedule with tournaments in September and October.
