The good times were rolling for Adri Bryk’s Hiland Lady Hawks, but like it has done to so many teams over the past several seasons, the state-ranked Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints put an end to the fun.
The streaking Hiland Lady Hawks volleyball team’s string of consecutive wins came to a screeching halt when it came up against the state-ranked Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Hiland High School.
After winning three straight to up its record to 4-6, the Lady Hawks ran into a buzz saw and fell quickly in three sets, losing 25-12, 25-11, 25-15.
Considering the talent level of the Saints, it wasn’t a horrible loss and would have marked a major upset had Hiland pulled off yet another win.
Leading the Lady Hawks was Brittany Wengerd with 17 digs, while Kim Miller added nine assists, Madisynn Bryk tacked on four kills, three blocks and a pair of aces, Mya Blochlinger had four kills.
The Lady Hawks will be right back in the middle of the Inter-Valley Conference fray when they travel to Garaway Thursday, Sept. 22 to take on the Lady Pirates in a game Garaway needs if it hopes to keep pace in the IVC as it tries to track down TCC.
