The West Holmes Knights football team dropped to 1-6 on the season when the Mansfield Senior Tygers came to Millersburg and put up 63 points. The Knights did score four touchdowns and mid-way through the second quarter had the scored tied at 14, but fell to the Tygers 63-28. Mansfield Senior moves to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference while the Knights remain win-less in the OCC with a count of 0-3.
Senior tailback Brian Benson, a senior, rushed for 357 yards against West Holmes, and in his last two games has ran for 741 yards. He also ran into the end zone three times for the Tygers and picked up 16 Tygers’ first downs by himself.
The Knights were led in the ground game by Garrett Ervin whose 136 yards on the ground included two touchdowns. West Holmes, without stud sophomore back Cale Ogi, went to the air a bit more as Trenton Bridenthal tossed 16 passing attempts and connected on eight for 189 yards. Bridenthal’s big pass play came to Connor Roach in the first quarter when the two seniors connected for a 85-yard TD pass.
Bridenthal also hooked up with Gavin Sheldon for a 25-yard touchdown in the second half.
