Lady Knights’ netters cruise past Mount Vernon

On Thursday Sept. 15 the West Holmes Lady Knights’ tennis team had no trouble dismantling Mount Vernon 5-0.

First singles player Erin Stitzlein showed Shannon Powers that she had the power and drop Powers 6-1, 6-0. Second singles player Sabryn Cutlip followed Stitzlein’s effort with a pretty darn good one of her own. Cutlip beat Mount Vernon’s Hannah Baldwin 6-1, 6-1.

In the third singles spot Kate Rodhe got past Kristyn Conrad 6-3, 6-3 and the West Holmes’ double teams added a pair of wins for the sweep. Sarah Tennefoss and Ally Taylor defeated Kaylee Burke and Michelle Sant 6-2, 6-2 and Samara Gallion and Dorita Phillips took down Mary Harris and Kelsey Plasse 6-4,6-0.

The Lady Knights are now an impressive 12-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. The West Holmes JV team also won 5-1 over Mount Vernon.
