Lady Knights end season with heartbreaking loss

On May 12 the West Holmes Lady Knights had Ashland right where they wanted them. The Lady Knights pushed four runs across the plate in the top of the sixth inning in Ashland on Thursday to give themselves a 5-3 lead with six outs left to get.

West Holmes got out of the sixth inning with no damage as catcher Natalie Martin caught a runner stealing to end the sixth, but in the seventh the Arrows got three runs and stole the win 6-5.

MacKenzie Thorne’s RBI single two outs in the bottom of the seventh was the back-breaker for the Lady Knights as they end their season ends with a 9-15 record and a 6-8 record in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.

The Lady Knights lost their opening tournament game last Saturday to Minerva 3-0.

Shortstop Becca Vales led the way for the Lady Knights with two hits and Ellie Patterson had a hit and two runs batted in. Brooke Workman also had a hit and two stolen bases for the Lady Knights.

Morgan Balder takes the loss for the Lady Knights allowing 10 hits while striking out three.
