Knights sweep Tygers on the court

The West Holmes Knights were in search of their first head-to-head victory of the young season Tuesday, April 12, and Mansfield senior was just what the doctor ordered to remedy that situation.

West Holmes was perfect on the night against the Tygers, reeling off five victories to whitewash Senior 5-0 to improve to 1-3 on the year and 1-0 in Ohio Cardinal Conference action.

At first singles, Ethan Meyer continued his strong campaign, fending off Zach Blank 6-2, 6-2. Eric Biltz got a big win at second singles, earning a 6-2, 6-3 win over Coleman Proffitt, while his teammate Taylor Vecchio won at third singles by forfeit.

At first doubles, the tandem of John Hipp and Madison Cox defeated Mitch Wade and Caleb Stamper rather handily at 6-2, 6-0, while second doubles was ruled by the Knights duo of Jason Abraham and Nathan Hartley, who got past Ethan Luedy and Jayden Scheplin 6-2, 6-4.
