Knights stay hot in grabbing second at State Farm Golf Tournament

Carter Hahn's superb play in 18-hole tournaments continued at State Farm outing

Coming off of their newfound success with a third-place finish at the Ohio Cardinal Conference golf tournament at Mohican Golf Course, where they finished a surprise third, the West Holmes Knights boys golf team continued its successful run by claiming a runner-up trophy at the 2018 State Farm Golf Tournament at Riceland Golf Course in Orrville on Saturday, Sept. 22.

While the Knights played well, there was no way they were going to keep pace with the Waynedale Golden Bears, who claimed the Stare Farm crown by firing off a superb 317.

The Golden Bears were led by Dylan Ledford’s 75 while Drew Hostetler carded a 78, Thad Weaver shot an 81 and Alex Pittman shot an 85. Ean Miller added an 89 for Waynedale.

Carter Hahn continued to play dominant gold for the Knights in 18-hole events, firing a third-place score of 76 to lead West Holmes. Evan Yoder shot an 82, Hunter Ellis posted an 87 and Cody Miller carded a 91 for the Knights.

Following the two top teams, Northwestern was third (344), Chippewa fourth (348), Smithville fifth (355), Cloverleaf sixth (356) and Triway seventh (359). Rounding out the rest of the field were Lake Center (366), Orrville (371), Manchester (379), Tuslaw (380), Mansfield Senior (403), Dalton (413), Loudonville (425) and Fairless (489).
