While West Holmes waits to get back to full strength so it can field an entire squad, the Knights were more than happy to pick up their first win of the season against three defeats on Friday, April 10.
West Holmes topped Cloverleaf 3-1, getting a much-needed victory.
At first singles, Clear Fork’s talented ace Austin Hanna earned the lone win for the Colts, carving out a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ethan Meyer, who had been the one Knights player who had been solid all season long.
But on this night, it would be the rest of the Knights players who would pick up the slack.
At second singles, Andrew Rodhe crushed Reilly Cipullo 6-0, 6-2, and Nathan Hartley moved in from doubles play to tackle third singles. In doing so, he earned a win, slipping past Kyle Young 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3.
West Holmes’ number one doubles tandem of John Hipp and Jason Abraham roared past the Colts’ Nick Ewart and Alex Renearson 6-3, 6-0 to complete the Knights’ first victory.
