The Knights’ golf team seems to be putting it all together at just the right time, and some improved play has led to some nice success late in the year as sectionals loom.
West Holmes defeated Norwayne 172-190 in a road match on Monday, Sept. 25. The Knights were led by Carter Hahn’s 40 while Evan Yoder tacked on a 42, Gavin Christine added a 43 and Walker Uhl carded a 47.
The Knights visited Riceland Golf Course in Orrville for the State Farm Invite on Saturday, Sept. 23 and placed a strong fourth out of 18 teams by firing off a 338, marking a low-water performance for West Holmes on the season.
Leading the way was Yoder with his season-best 76. Hahn came in with an 82, Christine shot an 89 and Uhl fired a 91.
Earlier in the week the Knights finished fifth in the Ohio Cardinal Conference by churning out a 346 at a difficult Mohican Hills Golf Course.
Lexington won the tournament with a 313, but the Knights continued to excel late in the season as they showed great improvement.
Leading the way was Hahn, who fashioned a 78, good for fifth place overall. The score secured a second-team All-OCC spot for Hahn. Yoder fired an 86, earning him a spot as honorable mention in the OCC. Rounding out the scores for the Knights were Christine and Uhl, who shot 90 and 92, respectively.
