Last year the Clear Fork Colts left the Ohio Cardinal Conference for greener pastures. The way the West Holmes boys soccer team treated the Colts on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Knights Field at West Holmes High School, the Knights might want to lure them back in.
After having produced just two goals over the past five games, in which the team went 0-4-1, the Knights exploded on the Colts, powering in six tallies while the defense held Clear Fork in check in the 6-0 victory.
The outpouring on offense coincided with the return of Brady Campbell to full health. Campbell was off to a terrific start this year before a high ankle sprain sent him to the sideline.
Campbell, Teddy Oliver and Tyler Masters all notched single scores, but it was freshman Curtis Wagner who produced a hat trick of three goals to lead the scoring wave. Coupled with his score against Hiland the game prior, the freshman has now racked up four goals in his last two games.
While the offense went nuts, the defense continued to display the same solid effort it has given throughout this campaign. Keeper Brendon Yoder was solid gold in gobbling up all three shots on goal while the Colts fired off 10 shots in total.
In improving to 3-5-3, the Knights outshot the Colts 21-10 and took four corners to none for Clear Fork.
