In overtime of the district semifinal game against Coshocton, Hiland girls’ soccer player Sarah Menuez decided enough was enough. The senior forward took a throw-in, made a move around a Redskins’ defender and chipped the keeper to walk-off the game with a golden goal. The goal secured a .500 record on the season for the Hawks, sent them to the district final and gave them more post-season wins (2) than any other team in school history.
“I saw the goal and I knew what I wanted to do,“ said Menuez of the chip shot. “In practice we work a lot on placing the ball. I thought it was in as soon as I kicked it.”
