Trailing 5-3 versus Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, Hiland rallied to score a pair and loaded the bases, when sophomore Amber Yoder strode to the plate to deliver a shot over the drawn-in outfield in left, giving Hiland a most improbably 6-5 walk-off win. We love big hits in crucial times, so making Yoder the choice for Yoder as our Hiland Player of the Week was pretty easy.
“Amber had an amazing game,” said Hiland coach Ellie Beam. “She had three hits and really stepped up big. All of the girls were beating on her when it was over. It was exciting to watch, and I couldn’t be more proud of the girls and the way they responded to the challenge.”
