On Wednesday, June 30 Garaway’s Joel Honigford chose to commit to the University of Michigan. One of the top o-line recruits in the nation, Honigford chose the maize and blue over schools such as Michigan State, Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. That’s a strong list of universities that wanted Honigford’s services.
Honigford will be a senior this fall at Garaway High School and is listed at 6’6 and 275 lbs. He has lined up all over the Pirates’ offensive line, but makes his home mostly at left tackle. The lead recruiter at Oregon is former Michigan coach Brady Hoke who is familiar with Ohio football and what this area breads. The Ducks along with Michigan State were in Honigford’s top three choices.
