Before the final race of a high-quality collegiate career in both cross country and track and field for senior Darian Pacula, the Hiland High School graduate obtained the NAIA Champions of Character Award.
Pacula, a recent graduate from MVNU in mechanical engineering, was one of the 50 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field honorees recognized for this award at the opening ceremonies of the Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The ceremony started at 2 p.m. on May 24.
“Darian has been a staple in our program for the last four years,” MVNU cross country and track and field head coach Chip Wilson said. “He is very deserving of this award because of his outstanding work ethic in the classroom and in athletics, his leadership and determined mindset. I am so proud of him for this achievement.”
Pacula ran in the marathon on Saturday, May 26, joined by nine other teammates in their respective events to form MVNU’s largest group ever to compete at the national level.
